UPDATE 5/22: Word has come down from the top that the sale is over. Sorry if you missed it.

I meant to post this earlier in the week, but we are currently running a sweet Used Book sale in the basement for the month of May (and possibly beyond). Right now, if you buy one used book, a second one is HALF OFF! So while you’re picking up your comics, you can also stock up on some summer reading.

Buy these comics…NOW!

May 13, 2006

If you didn’t pick up the following comics, well, then there’s something wrong with you. I’m sorry to be the one to tell you that, but it’s true. Get these comics now, or you’ll be kicking yourself later.

52 #1 (DC) – Straight out of INFINITE CRISIS comes the most ambitious comics project ever. I think the most exciting thing is seeing if DC can actually pull off a weekly comic for a year without missing any dates. It also helps that this book has an all-star writing team of Grant Morrision, Geoff Johns, Greg Rucka, and Mark Waid. I mean, come on, how could you go wrong with those guys?

FABLES #49 (Vertigo) – Bigby’s back! Oh yes, my friend. He’s back and I see big changes in Fabletown soon. It’s a good time to jump on board one of the best ongoing series on the shelf.

X-MEN: DEADLY GENESIS #6 (Marvel) – Brubaker ends his first X-Men series this month. Check out the final chapter of the best X-Men story since Grant Morrison left Marvel a few years ago.

WOLFSKIN #1 (Avatar) – Warren Ellis. ‘Nuff said. Okay, you need more? Barbarians and lots and lots of blood. Now ’nuff said.

Big numbers.

May 4, 2006

So who’s it gonna be? Marvel? DC? Crisis or War? One is at its end and one is just beginning. I’m still a DC man myself, but Marvel sure is starting things off right. If you don’t have INFINITE CRISIS #7 or CIVIL WAR #1 yet, you better hurry because they’ve been flying off the shelves.

Also, for your listening enjoyment, here’s an interview that Joe Quesada and Paul Jenkins did on NPR’s Talk of the Nation.

Oh, and since this is sorta the end of the year for us (this is a college town, you know), I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that’s stuck with us throughout all the crap that’s happened. Between moving and the fire I’m always surprised that we still have customers. Anyways, to those that are moving on, good luck, and to those that aren’t, see you on Wednesday!
